With more than 16 years of experience, ORD has successfully implemented over 113 humanitarian and development projects across all 34 provinces of Afghanistan in partnership with UN agencies, international donors, and development organizations.ORD is committed to promoting sustainable livelihoods, social inclusion, resilience, and economic empowerment for vulnerable communities, particularly women, youth, and marginalized groups.Job DescriptionThe Chirma Dozi Trainer will be responsible for planning, organizing, delivering, monitoring, and assessing Chirma Dozi training under the REEP Project in accordance with the approved curriculum and project implementation plan. The position holder will perform the following duties and responsibilities:1. Training DeliveryDeliver theoretical and practical Chirma Dozi training according to the approved curriculum.Prepare weekly and monthly lesson plans.Conduct practical demonstrations and supervise hands-on Chirma Dozi activities.Teach traditional Chirma Dozi patterns, designs, and stitching techniques.Train participants on pattern preparation, design transfer, and Chirma Dozi execution.Guide trainees in selecting suitable fabrics, threads, colors, and Chirma Dozi materials.Demonstrate finishing techniques and quality improvement methods.Guide trainees in producing market-oriented Chirma Dozi products.Apply adult learning principles, including practical demonstrations, group practical assignments, and continuous assessment.2. Workshop Management and SafetyTrain participants on the proper use of Chirma Dozi tools, frames, needles, threads, and materials.Ensure effective classroom/workshop management and a safe learning environment.Support verification of training materials and toolkits before distribution.3. Assessment, Coaching and MentoringAssess trainee performance through practical evaluations, including a final competency assessment.Provide coaching and mentoring to trainees.Prepare final trainee assessment and completion reports.4. Reporting and DocumentationMaintain attendance records and daily training reports.Prepare and submit the following deliverables: training work plan, daily attendance sheets, practical training records, trainee assessment records, monthly progress reports, final competency assessment report, and final training completion report.5. Coordination and MonitoringCoordinate with the Project Manager, Skills Development Officer, MEAL team, and TVET providers.Participate in monitoring visits conducted by ORD and UNDP.Participate in coordination meetings as required.6. Inclusion, Safeguarding and CompliancePromote equal participation of women and persons with disabilities where applicable.Apply safeguarding, PSEA, Code of Conduct, and occupational safety requirements, and ensure a respectful, safe, and inclusive learning environment.7. Other DutiesPerform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager or Skills Development Officer that contribute to the successful implementation of the training component of the project.Job RequirementsEducationDiploma or technical certificate in Chirma Dozi, embroidery, handicrafts, tailoring, or a related field (preferred).National vocational certification in embroidery/handicraft is an advantage.ExperienceMinimum of three (3) years of practical experience in Chirma Dozi and traditional embroidery.Minimum of two (2) years of experience delivering vocational training or community-based skills training.Experience with Competency-Based Training (CBT) is preferred.Technical SkillsTraditional Afghan Chirma Dozi techniques.Hand Chirma Dozi methods and decorative stitching.Pattern design, tracing, and transferring designs onto fabric.Selection of appropriate fabrics, threads, needles, and Chirma Dozi accessories.Use of Chirma Dozi frames and hand tools, and their maintenance.Different Chirma Dozi stitches and finishing techniques.Color combination and design improvement.Knowledge of quality standards for handmade products.Ability to prepare basic training records and reports.LanguagesFluency in Dari and/or Pashto.CompetencyGood communication and facilitation skills.Ability to coach and mentor trainees.Commitment to safeguarding, protection, and accountability principles.Female ApplicantsThis position is open to female candidates only.
